Shakib Al Hasan survives as Helicopter crashes soon after offload
Reports from Bangladesh go on to confirm that a helicopter carrying Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and his wife crashed shortly after dropping the couple in Cox Bazar.
After dropping Shakib and his wife, the chopper took off towards Dhaka where it crashed on the return journey. The cricketer said he was shocked to learn about the accident in which one person was killed and four were injured.
The former Bangladesh skipper also went on to confirm that he was fine. However, in spite of confirming his safety, Shakib added that he was indeed shocked by the whole ordeal. “I am fine, but feel rather shocked at the news of the chopper crash,” Shakib was quoted by newspapers. “But I can’t really tell you anything about the crash. I was at shooting at the time.”
The accident claimed one victim who has been identified as Shah Alam, a resident of Dhaka. Reports further suggest that the others injured were undergoing treatment in the local health complex near the crash site. The pilot of the chopper was also severely injured.

While this is deemed as just an accident, this goes on to provide some negative publicity on what has been transpiring over the past few months in Bangladesh. The terrorist strike in Dhaka that claimed a lot of lives put the England tour in jeopardy. The England and Wales Cricket Board then sent a security delegation to inspect the security that would be provided to the England players.
After their three-day stay and accurate inspection of the venues, it was clear that the place was safe and cricket could be played. However, in spite of this, Alex Hales and more importantly, skipper Eoin Morgan chose to withdraw from the tour, something that hasn’t gone down too well with many big names affiliated to the ECB in one way or another.
