Shakib Al Hasan, who was recently handed with a backdated ban from ICC for two years, couldn’t resist himself from playing sports and was recently spotted playing a football match in Dhaka. And, it is also true that a sportsperson of his merit cannot be kept away from the ground for a very long time.

The ban was imposed on Shakib just ahead of the tour to India. The step was taken by the ICC after he failed to report incidents of being approached by bookies to fix matches.

Shakib Al Hasan is back on the ground

The 32-year-old played a friendly match from a team called Footy Hags against Korean Expat Team at Dhaka’s Bangladesh Army Stadium and his side won the match by 3-2. Also, this was not the first occasion that Hasan took to the football field. He had earlier played for Bangladesh Tigers against Footy Hags at Old DOHS Ground in Dhaka where his team won the match by 4-1.

Later on, the Footy Hags shared the pictures of their match on their official page for the fans and wrote, “We played 11 a side on a full-size pitch at the Army Stadium against the Korean Expat team today. We won 3-2. Good to have Shakib Al Hasan back in the Footy Hags Team.” Also, Riyad Shahir Ahmed Husain, the teammate of Shakib shared the similar-looking pictures with identical captions.

The left-handed all-rounder is most likely to miss the upcoming T20 World Cup that is scheduled to take place in Australia. It is because his ban will end on October 29, 2020, whereas the mega-event will get kicked off from October 18. In the recently concluded 50-over World Cup, he became the first player to score more than 600 runs and picked up 10 wickets in a single edition.

Currently, Bangladesh cricket team is playing a three-match T20I series against India that is leveled at 1-1. And, the series decider will be played in Nagpur at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. After that, the Tigers will play two Tests against the same opponent, with the first one starting on November 14.
