Sheldon Cottrell has been one of the shining lights for the Windies in the ongoing World Cup. He has picked nine wickets so far in six matches and more than anything, his celebration after picking up a wicket has been the talk of the town. After dismissing a batsman, Cottrell marches on and performs a salute celebration which is his way to pay a tribute to Jamaican Defence Force. However, the left-arm pacer is also smart in responding to witty questions and the same was on display when a fan questioned his number of followers on Twitter.

The Caribbean cricketers generally enjoy when they are on the field and Cottrell is no different. He was on fire in the game against New Zealand in Manchester when the bowler scalped the opposition openers in the first over itself. His action is also different compared to the other left-armers which makes it tough for the batsmen to pick his variations.

Sheldon Cottrell doesn’t seem to be much active on social media and doesn’t have many followers on his Twitter handle. At the moment, the pacer is having 5,505 followers and it has increased considerably ever since one of the fans questioned him. The fan mentioned Cottrell in his tweet and wrote, “How has @SaluteCotterell only have 904 followers!?”

Cottrell’s ‘skill’ful reply

Sheldon Cottrell was brilliant with a response here as he stated that he possesses better skills on the cricket ground to show than on Twitter. The response has won many hearts as well and it is the same reason now for a sudden increase in his followers. “Bc my skills are better on the field than in 280 characters,” Cottrell’s reply read.

Here’s his reply:

As far as the Windies are concerned, despite Cottrell’s sincere efforts, New Zealand posted 291 runs with the bat in 50 overs. The Caribbeans fell agonisingly five runs short of the target in the chase and are more or less out of the competition now.
