Saurashtra star Sheldon Jackson has been all over the news due to his recent comments on Twitter. One of the most sought-after batsmen in the domestic circuit, Sheldon recently lost his cool over the lack of chances for him and his state teammates in the India A and other squads. He had directed a series of tweets to Indian cricket selectors, alleging that ‘small state sides’ are discriminated against.

Jackson’s frustration was understandable. Despite scoring a staggering 854 runs in the last Ranji season, Jackson could not make it to India A squad. The senior Saurashtra batsman was also ignored for the Duleep Trophy this year. The snub was would have been a tough pill to swallow for the consistent batsman. Unsurprisingly, he received support from all around as not only fans but also some of his fellow cricketers backed him.

But amidst all these support, one fan ended up posting a highly derogatory tweet and Sheldon was quick to teach him a lesson. Replying to Sheldon’s tweet, the fan bizarrely asked him to develop a friendship with Anushka Sharma, wife of India skipper Virat Kohli while citing the example of KL Rahul. The user clearly wanted to say that Sheldon ‘s road would be cleared if he gets into the good books of Kohli by developing a friendship with his wife.

“Like k.L. Rahul… You try to develop friendship with anushka sharma…,” wrote the user.

But Sheldon was quick to berate the user for his distasteful tweet. The star batsman asked the user to learn manners and keep families from the game, writing, “Surya, please learn some manners and think before you tweet. This is so disrespectful towards KL and Anushka who have nothing to do with it. Keep families away from cricketing matters!”

Sheldon lays into selectors

Talking about Sheldon Jackson’s recent tweets, he publicly criticized the selectors and urged for more transparency in the selection process. In a series of tweets, the right-hander admitted that while he was not allowed to talk about selection publicly, he has the right to know about the entire process.

“I am told not to question, but I strongly believe that we represent this beautiful organization and association and we as players surely deserve to know why, and where we lack, or else our careers are just going to end wondering why???? Selectors should be transparent,” wrote Jackson in one of his tweets.
