Shikhar Dhawan sports new look, says no effort will be spared to win Asia Cup
On Thursday, it was Dhawan’s turn to get back to Sehwag’s funny tweet.
In the ongoing Asia Cup 2018, a parallel competition is underway besides cricket and according to former opener Virender Sehwag, India are winning that competition. The competition is all about shaving the beard and a number of players have preferred to have a clean face in the multi-nation tournament as per humorous Sehwag.
Sehwag, on Wednesday, tweeted a photo of four players – two each from India and Pakistan – ahead of the high-voltage clash in the tournament in Dubai, saying a #BreakTheBeard competition was on and India was leading in that race.
He posted a photo of Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Amir with the caption: “Koi Biwi ke liye kar raha hai , koi garmi ki vajah se, iss #INDvsPAK ke #BreakTheBeard mukaabley mein bhi India hi Champions hai”.
The former cricketer’s funny dig at Malik by saying “some were doing it for their wives” was clear. It may be mentioned here that ace Indian tennis player Sania Mirza tweeted an adorable photo of herself with husband Malik and preferred to see the latter without his stubble. Mirza later tweeted a video showing her husband obliging.
Dhawan on his new look
On Thursday, it was Dhawan’s turn to get back to Sehwag’s funny tweet. He preferred Instagram instead of Twitter where he posted a video of him cleaning up his stubble and sporting a French beard instead. In the caption, he said Sehwag was right in his assessment (according to him, heat in the Middle East is another reason why players were choosing to shave off their beard) and added that the Indian team will leave no stone unturned to win the Asia Cup.
Dhawan slammed a century in India’s first match against Hong Kong on Tuesday, his 14th, and is now just one short of equalling his predecessor’s tally of 15 hundreds in the ODIs. Though India won that game closely, they were far clinical in the next match against Pakistan which they won comprehensively by 8 wickets.
