Shikhar Dhawan visits Pakistani Hindu Refugee camp in Delhi; donates modular toilets and cricket kits
Like many, Dhawan is also keen to return to the field soon.
The ongoing Coronavirus-enforced lockdown has showed the other side of the cricketers. The players who are busy representing their country most of the times, came forward to help the nation help fight the pandemic. A lot of current and former cricketers donated whopping amounts to the PM CARES Fund and the respective CM Relief Funds as well.
The likes of Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh among many others took care of the poor and needy people as well donating essentials. The swashbuckling opening batsman of the Indian team Shikhar Dhawan has come forward now to help the Hindu refugees from Pakistan in Delhi.
The southpaw visited the camp set in Adarsh Nagar in the national capital and donated the modular toilets. He also spent some valuable time with the people and gifted a few cricket kits to the children in the camp. Moreover, the cricketer also promised to help them whenever needed.
Shikhar Dhawan keen to play cricket soon
Shikhar Dhawan has been away from the game for a long time now. He last featured for India in January this year in the home series against Australia where he got injured. Subsequently, he missed the following New Zealand tour as well. The left-handed batsman was set to return to the action in March for the home series against South Africa but this is when the Coronavirus started to spread across the world and it led to the series being postponed.
However, with the sport resuming slowly and steadily in some parts of the world, Shikhar Dhawan is optimistic of returning to the field soon. Rather recently he also said that he is mentally ready to be on the field. “For sure, I am looking forward to it (resumption of cricket). I am preparing quite strongly for that. Mentally, I am already there, visualising that I am already playing great knocks I am in great touch.
“That helps me when I go over there and play. That’s what I do, that is my mental exercise. Once things settle down, and the government allows us to play, for sure, we are going to play. You will see us winning a lot of matches for India,” he said while speaking to India Today.
