MS Dhoni has been quite an influential figure in the cricketing circles and it is quite evident on the field as well. Despite the fact that he gave up the captaincy of the Indian team, he has been actively involved with the field placements, making decisions and giving his inputs to the current captain Virat Kohli.

He has become a role model not only for the emerging as well as youngsters who are a part of the team. Time and again, we’ve seen players seeking advice and opinion from Dhoni who shares his experience and insight. The latest in the line is Kolkata Knight Riders’ Shivam Mavi. The pacer who was a part of India’s U19 World Cup champion squad was absolutely delighted after talking to Dhoni.

After yesterday’s clash between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, Dhoni had a discussion with the 19-year-old old pacer. While the CSK skipper himself had another good outing with the bat, Kolkata went on to win the game by 6 wickets and hand the Super Kings their third defeat in the season. Mavi too had a decent game though he failed to pick a wicket.

The right-arm pacer shared an image on Twitter with a captain thanking the legend- “The pieces of advice you gave me after the match are highly appreciated and words can neither qualify nor quantify your guidance and useful advice. Your perseverance, integrity and people-loving nature are just a few of your qualities that continue to inspire me. #Mahibhai

The youngster who hails from Uttar Pradesh has taken 3 wickets in the IPL so far. However, the most interesting prospect about his bowling has been the pace he is able to generate. He consistently touches the 145kph mark while bowling, a trait which even impressed former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.

Having been an integral part of the victorious U19 team in the World Cup, Mavi is eager to make his mark in the Indian Premier League as well. His U19 teammates Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill have already gained a lot of attention with their recent performances with the bat and the junior stars now have a lot of eye on them.
