Over the years, one has seen cricket experts, players, and fans coming up with different kinds of adjectives to describe MS Dhoni. The former India skipper is one of the most decorated and charismatic cricketers of all time. His record as a batsman, wicketkeeper and captain puts him among the best who have graced the game.
Unsurprisingly, the cricket world keeps showering Dhoni with compliments, tributes, and adjectives every now and then. And former Pakistan fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar has perhaps come up with the highest and best adjective to describe the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman. Akhtar came up with the compliment for Dhoni while interacting with fans on Twitter on Sunday.
He conducted a question-answer session on the social media platform where he was asked different types of questions by the fans. One of the fans from Pakistan asked him: “What you say about MS Dhoni.” In reply, Akhtar stated that Dhoni defines a complete era, writing, “Its the name of an era”
MS Dhoni’s glorious career
In August last year, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket. The World Cup-winning skipper retired from the game as one of its most-decorated wicketkeeper-batsmen, finishers and captains. He ended his ODI career with 10,773 runs at 50.56 and amassed 4,876 and 1,617 runs in Tests and T20Is respectively.
MS Dhoni scored a total of 16 tons, 108 half-centuries, 359 sixes, 634 catches, 195 stumpings in international cricket. Till date, he remains the only captain to have won all three ICC titles (T20 World Cup, Champions Trophy, and ODI World Cup). He led India to the T20 World Cup triumph in 2007 before guiding the team to win in the 50-over World Cup in 2011. Two years later, India won the Champions Trophy in England under Dhoni’s captaincy.
Meanwhile, Dhoni is still active in the game despite retiring from international cricket. After bringing down curtains on his illustrious international career, he played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and has also confirmed his participation in the next IPL. Dhoni would be desperate to bounce back in the next IPL after a forgettable outing in IPL 2020.
