Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli is considered as one of the fittest athletes of the world. The cricketer is often regarded for highlighting the importance of fitness in the sport and inspiring his teammates along with thousands of other budding cricketers for maintaining their physical fitness.

The Indian cricket team boasts of having some of the fittest cricketers including the likes of Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul, Manish Pandey, Jasprit Bumrah, Navdeep Saini and many more.

Recently, the Indian swashbuckling batsman Shreyas Iyer, who made his debut in 2017 and has established himself as a potential number 4 for the Indian team in limited-overs cricket, opined on which Indian cricketer has the better physique and his bond with the skipper Kohli. Notably, both Virat and Shreyas are neighbours in Mumbai and have lives about 500 meters away.

In a video chat with ESPNCricinfo, Iyer was put in a spot as he was asked to predict the winner of a hypothetical arm-wrestling match between two of the fittest cricketers– Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya. The 25-year-old was quick to answer as he chose the Indian captain. Though Iyer also pointed out that it’s Hardik who has a better physique out of the two.

Further in the interview, Iyer admitted that he and Kohli share a good bond and they frequently chat with each other via texts. He also revealed that most of the time the duo talk about the different models of watches. The Mumbai Stalwart has always spoken highly of his captain and has hailed him as a role model for all the youngsters.

“It’s really a phenomenal feeling when he talks or compliments his teammates. He’s a role model for all the youngsters out there. Whenever he goes out on the field it feels as if he’s playing his first game. He’s never tired, always energetic like a lion. You see a different body language when he enters the ground, something great to learn from him.” the 25-year-old said

Both Virat and Shreyas will brace the match field after being on sabbatical for over five months during the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League, which is slated to commence from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The two will be looking forward to leading their IPL franchises Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals respectively to its maiden victory in the T20 Championship.
