Shubman Gill is the only one I was thinking will be hard to bowl: Rashid Khan
Khan was happy to have Shubman Gill on his side in IPL 2022.
Rashid Khan once again had a fantastic IPL season as he helped Gujarat Titans (GT) to win the tournament at their first attempt. He grabbed 19 wickets at an economy of 6.60 and his economical performance was a major concern for batters playing in front of him. In the final against RR, he picked up the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal by conceding only 18 runs in four overs.
Apart from bowling, GT used his batting skills also this year as he managed to deliver some crucial and quick cameos in crunch situations. He helped GT to cross the finishing line in some matches, batting down the order. Despite bowling so many years in IPL, the Afghanistan leggie has managed to maintain such economical spells and batters still find it hard to read his deliveries.
Luckily I have Shubman Gill on my side: Rashid Khan
After defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in this year’s final, Rashid Khan spoke on Star Sports and said that Shubman Gill is the player against whom he thought it will be hard to bowl. The young Indian batter was in fine form in the final as he finished the match with a score of 45* off 43 balls. Gill scored 483 runs in the tournament at an average of 34.50. In the final, he forged partnerships with captain Hardik Pandya (34 runs) and then David Miller (32* runs) to ensure the seven-wicket victory over RR.
He heaped high praises for Gill batter as his contributions were instrumental to GT in having a successful run in their maiden year in the tournament. Speaking on his potential.
“So proud to be here with him. With someone like him, it gives you lots of energy in the game. The way he played throughout the tournament was unbelievable so pleased to have him on our side. He’s the only one I was thinking will be hard for me to bowl too but luckily I have him on my side,” said Khan.
