Star India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Notably, he was severely injured in a near-fatal car accident in December 2022 and has been out of action since then. The youngster was ruled out from competing in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) while he is set to miss the upcoming Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup in India.

On Wednesday, July 5, Pant took to his official Instagram handle and shared a picture of himself from the NCA including an inspirational message. Pant's knee had been wrapped with an adhesive bandage in the photograph. Meanwhile, his fans and followers wished him a swift recovery in the comments while his Delhi Capitals (DC) colleague David Warner wrote, "Keep going legend."

"A grateful heart is the best kind to have," the cricketer captioned the post.

Pant unlikely to return to action this year

Pant is unlikely to be fit to play anytime as he is yet to gain 100% fitness following his surgery earlier this year. The youngster has made significant progress in his rehabilitation, and the medical team recently ruled out a surgery earlier in June. He has gradually resumed normal activities and training. Pant is anticipated to return to cricketing action in 2024 after regaining full fitness. He will be expected to play domestic cricket before making himself available for the IPL and international cricket.

His absence has been one of the subjects of discussion after team India's defeat to Australia in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final earlier this month at The Oval in London. Furthermore, watching India's performance in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup without their young wicketkeeper will be intriguing.
