'Admin clearly is one hell of a worrier' - Dinesh Karthik's dig at Australian media over portrayal of Ravi Ashwin
India and Australia will lock horns for the second Test in Delhi on February 17.
Former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik took a subtle dig at the Australian media, for their "over-obsession" with current India star cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin after the spinner bowled a match-winning spell in the first test against Australia in the first Test at Nagpur.
Ashwin was the star for India in their thumping innings victory over Australia in the opening Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023. Ashwin picked up a five-wicket haul during Australia's second innings, which resulted in the visitors being dismissed for 91 runs, eventually losing by an innings and 132 runs.
“The admin here clearly is one hell of a worrier. Seems to play more mind games with the Australian team than the other way around. #INDvsAUS #BGT2023”, the 37-year-old wrote in his Tweet.
The former wicketkeeper-batter wasn't very impressed with Fox Cricket's way of portraying the Indian players. The Australian media outlet had tweeted an update about the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being shifted to Indore from what earlier was Dharamshala.
“BREAKING: The third Test has been moved to a new venue … where Ravichandran Ashwin averages 12.50 with the ball. #INDvsAUS,” the post from Fox Cricket read.
What irked Dinesh Karthik about the post, naturally, was the manner in which it was written. Rather than concentrating on mentioning the reason for the venue change or even mentioning the name of the new venue in the first place, the Australian media house resorted to attempt and "warn" the Australian team of Ravichandran Ashwin's exploits from the opening Test.
Dinesh Karthik had no qualms in taking a direct dig at Fox Cricket for unnecessarily obsessing over Ravichandran Ashwin and getting involved in playing mind games with the Australian team, which strangely, should have been with India.
Here is the post from Dinesh Karthik :-
Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja worked their spin magic against Australia in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, each taking five wickets. On Day 3, Ashwin's five-wicket haul helped India win, while Jadeja's fifer came earlier, as Pat Cummins' side were bowled out for 177 runs in their first innings. Ashwin also took a sly dig at the Australian media during a conversation with captain Rohit Sharma following India's victory over Australia in Nagpur on Saturday.
