After Jasprit Bumrah, Tushar Deshpande reacts to 'fake' injury reports

Days after India's ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah called out media outlets for speculating false injury news, Mumbai's pacer Tushar Deshpande has also responded to a misleading media report that claimed he would be sidelined for months due to a constant ankle injury. The 29-year-old, who underwent ankle surgery in September last year, quashed these reports as baseless and criticized the responsibility of accurate reporting in sports journalism.
Deshpande who underwent surgery last year, witnessed reports claiming a reoccurrence of his ankle injury could force him to miss several months of cricket, including a significant portion of the upcoming Ranji Trophy and IPL 2025. A report even quoted a doctor stating that Deshpande's return to action might be delayed further. Taking to his social media, Deshpande furiously denied the injury reports.
Meanwhile, the Kalyan-born got his breakthrough moment in the IPL, where he played a crucial role in the Chennai Super Kings' campaign in 2023, claiming 21 wickets in 16 matches. His performance earned him a maiden India cap during the T20I series against Zimbabwe in 2024. In the IPL 2025 auction, the pacer was picked by the Rajasthan Royals, for a whopping INR 6.5 crore, beating serious competition from CSK.

Bumrah refuted media reports through his social media handle
Meanwhile, speaking of the fiery India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, he recently came forward to address misleading injury updates around him. Notably, some reports claimed that he was advised bed rest by the medical experts. However, the speedster laughed off the rumours of being ruled out, asking fans to rely only on credible sources for updates.
“I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable,” Bumrah wrote on his 'X' handle while replying to a media report regarding his injury status.
