Shah Rukh Khan, the beloved Bollywood actor, expressed his enthusiasm for India's Olympic hosting prospects
In a big announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled India's ambitious aspiration to host the 2036 Olympics. The government's commitment to making this dream a reality is certain, as Prime Minister Modi pledged to leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of this big sporting event on home soil.
To kickstart this monumental effort, a joint committee, comprising the Indian government and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), will soon convene discussions to chart the course for India's bid to host the 2036 Olympics.
It's important to note that the host city for the 2036 Olympics won't be decided until after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) elections in the subsequent year. This momentous development comes on the heels of the inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Olympics, following approval from the International Olympic Committee. Cricket will make a much-anticipated return to the Olympic stage, with a six-team T20 format proposed for both men and women.
In a historic move, the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will also feature baseball/softball, lacrosse (sixes), and flag football, further diversifying the Olympic games. Notably, the IOC vote to confirm these inclusions wasn't unanimous, with two members voting against the motion.
Shah Rukh Khan, the beloved Bollywood actor, expressed his enthusiasm for India's Olympic hosting prospects. He affirmed that hosting the Olympics would substantially elevate India's sporting culture, drawing a parallel with the charm of aspiring to become a fast bowler like Kapil Dev or Jasprit Bumrah.
As India sets its sights on the 2036 Olympics, the nation is embarking on a monumental journey that promises to be filled with excitement, challenges, and the potential to transform the sporting landscape in the country.
