India are set to square off with Australia for a five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. This edition of the monumental series will begin with the first Test at the WACA, Perth. However, regular Indian skipper will miss the opening encounter of the series due to personal reasons.

According to Gaurav Gupta from The Times of India, Rohit Sharma will not be travelling with the Indian team for the first match of the series, labelling his absence from the Perth fixture. The team will be addressing a press conference in Mumbai on Monday, November 11 at 9 am IST before departing for Australia. Although, Rohit and head coach Gautam Gambhir will be addressing the media for an interaction, the former will not be travelling alongside the Indian team.

In Rohit's absence, vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah is the strongest contender to lead the Indian side against Pat Cummins & Co.
