Australia and the West Indies are well engaged in a Test series. Both sides faced off in the second Test of the series from January 25 at the Brisbane Cricket Ground. Batting first, the West Indies posted a total of 311 runs in the first innings of the clash and conceded 289 runs in Australia’s first innings as the hosts declared.
Coming out to bat to maximize their lead, the Windies failed to replicate their performances from the first innings. Kirk McKenzie was the highest run-getter for the visitors, with 41 runs to his name. As the side’s batters looked to stabilise the innings, youngster Shamar Joseph came forward to face ace pacer Mitchell Starc.
However, the 24-year-old was quickly sent back to the pavilion after he was retired hurt by a toe-crushing yorker by Starc. Having scored three runs, Joseph had to go back to the pavilion after he was retired.

Australia require 156 runs to win the second Test
With Joseph’s retired hurt, the Windies were bundled out for 193 runs in the second innings, posting a target of 216 runs for the Aussies to chase down and win the series. The side opened with Steve Smith and Usman Khawaja, and the visitors dismissed Khawaja for just 10 runs.
Furthermore, Marnus Labuschange was sent back to the pavilion for just five runs. With a subpar target in front of them, Australia will look to settle the game as soon as possible on Day 4 of the clash.
Winning the clash, the Pat Cummins-led side will clinch the series and shift its focus to the shorter formats. It is worth noting that Australia and the West Indies will take on each other in three ODIs and three T20Is, with the first ODI starting on February 2 and the first T20I scheduled on February 9.
