BAN vs IND: Litton Das' sensational grab sends Virat Kohli packing
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were dismissed in one over by Shakib Al Hasan.
The Indian team is up against it in the first ODI against Bangladesh after losing their top three batters inside the first 15 overs. Rohit Sharma's India came into the contest as heavy favorites, however, the Bangladeshi bowlers held their own in the initial stages. While the Indian skipper's dismissal was a big blow, Bangladeshi skipper Litton Das pulled off a blinder to get rid of Virat Kohli.
The Men in Blue were put in to bat first by hosts Bangladesh and were rocked early by the dismissal of veteran opening batter Shikhar Dhawan. That is when the visitors started consolidating with two of their best batters, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, in the middle. But the canny Shakib Al Hasan broke through by rattling Rohit's stumps before dismissing Kohli in the same over, thanks to his skipper's spectacular full-length dive in the short cover region.
The former Indian skipper could not believe what he just saw and stood his ground in shock after Litton Das' jaw-dropping catch. Shakib's double-wicket first over put Bangladesh in the ascendency with two new batters, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, at the crease. The latter finds himself amidst a rebuilding act yet again for the Men in Blue in the 50-over format and will need assistance from an extended all-rounder line-up in the first ODI.
Meanwhile, the hosts will be elated by the performance of their bowlers on a pitch that is not the easiest to bat on as the ball is not coming onto the bat. The spin bowling duo of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib has been potent on the sluggish surface, and they will be hoping to capitalize on their early success against the Indians in the ODI series opener.
