'Bazball didn't work when needed' - Twitter has its say after New Zealand beat England by 74 runs, stay alive in the series
The series hangs in balance as England lead 2-1 with one last match to go.
After suffering consecutive defeats in the first two matches of the series, New Zealand finally made a breakthrough in the third game against the formidable English side, keeping the four-match series alive.
The decision to bat first proved to be a wise one for New Zealand as they got off to a decent start. However, their opening batter, Devon Conway was unfortunately run out early on in the fourth over when the score was 31, but on the other hand, Finn Allen displayed exceptional form and ended up scoring an impressive 83 runs off just 53 deliveries, including four boundaries and six maximums.
Glenn Phillips also played a crucial role in New Zealand's innings, contributing 69 runs off 34 balls with five sixes and five fours. Thanks to their efforts, New Zealand managed to reach a total of 202 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Although Gus Atkinson took two wickets for England, the rest of the bowlers struggled to make an impact.
In pursuit of the target, the mighty English batting lineup failed to find their rhythm and were constantly lagging behind in the game. None of their batters were able to make a significant impact, with only captain Jos Buttler managing to score 40 runs. The rest of the batters seemed out of touch, resulting in England falling short.
New Zealand's Kyle Jamieson and Ish Sodhi both performed exceptionally well with the ball, taking three wickets each, while captain Tim Southee also contributed with two wickets. Ultimately, New Zealand emerged victorious with a comfortable 74-run margin.
