Brian Lara promises improved West Indies cricket to his fans
Brian Lara recently joined as the performance mentor for the West Indies team to help them prepare for the upcoming ODI World Cup as the ultimate goal.
Legendary West Indian batter, Brian Lara, is undoubtedly one of the greatest cricketers of all time. The former 53-year-old, recently, became the performance mentor for Cricket West Indies (CWI). Lara will move forward, working with the international team and with the board as well.
Notably, Lara will be assisting in providing the squad with tactical advice, thereby helping them in improving their game sense. The Trinidadian will also be working with the higher-ups on strategic planning for the upcoming ODI World Cup that is fast approaching.
In a recent video shared by CWI on their Instagram handle, Brian Lara was seen talking about the progress of the squad and how they are preparing for the upcoming series against Zimbabwe and South Africa.
"Hi, maroon fans! This is Brian Lara, and I am happy to be here with the West Indies team in Zimbabwe in preparation for the two Test matches here and onto South Africa for another two Test matches. As the new performance mentor, I think I’ve had a wonderful time so far. I’ve met some wonderful individuals, and I think there is a lot of talent in this group," Brian Lara said.

In the video shared by CWI on their Instagram handle, Brian Lara further elaborated that the training sessions have been about trying to get the squad to collectively understand their responsibility and helping the players reach their potential.
Furthermore, the Prince of Trinidad asked his fans to be patient and have faith in the squad. "I promise that you are going to see an improved team as time goes on," the champion batter concluded.
Interestingly, Lara was also on the review panel that looked over the team’s poor performance at the T20 World Cup 2022. However, it has not been mentioned for how long the legendary Caribbean will be a part of the team as a mentor, but he surely will stay until after the ODI World Cup, to be held at the end of this year.
