Buchi Babu Tournament: Suryakumar Yadav bowls high full toss, apologizes later
Mumbai need 504 runs in the final day to beat TNCA XI.
India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav tried his hands at bowling in the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament. On Day 3 of the match against the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, the flamboyant batter decided to roll his arms in the final over of the first session and that’s when, he bowled a high full toss, which scared the short-leg fielder.
The incident happened during the third ball of the over when Suryakumar lost his control and bowled a full toss. Batter Athish S R saw the opportunity of dismissing it to the stands and took it as the cricketer played it on the front foot and pulled it, which forced the short-leg fielder to duck. Suryakumar immediately raised his hands in apology and went back to his bowling mark.
The 33-year-old bowling is also an indication that the Indian team management wants the cricketer to bowl more to feature regularly in the other two formats of the game. He was seen bowling in the final T20I of the series against Sri Lanka, where he picked up two wickets, forcing the match into Super Over.
Meanwhile, TNCA XI posted 286 runs in their second innings. Athish made 57 runs, while his opening partner Lokeshwar S hit 73. Later, Mokit Hariharan made 52 runs, which put immense pressure on the visitors. TNCA XI posted 379 runs in the first innings and took a lead of 223 runs after bundling Mumbai for 156 runs in the first innings.

The Sarfaraz Khan-led side needs 510 runs to win the game, which is a massive hill to climb on the final day. Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian were phenomenal with the ball in the third innings, picking up four and five wickets, respectively but the game now rests on the hands of the batters.
They are trailing by 503 runs after Day 3 and need a strong partnership from the top order to challenge for a win. They will also have to play an aggressive brand of cricket, which is extremely difficult, given the conditions.
