Jadeja has been a legendary contributor for Indian cricket for over a decade, has been a key contributor in both batting and bowling. His exceptional fielding game and match-changing performances have made him an invaluable asset. Nevertheless, recent discussions about India’s future squad have led to whispers about senior players stepping away from the ODI format.

A similar moment of Kohli hugging Ravichandran Ashwin had occurred right before the latter announced retirement during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. As a result, his arms-in-shoulders moment with the Saurashtra all-rounder hints at a similar event on the cards after the finale concludes. Both the cricketers had called off their time in T20 Internationals after India's World Cup win in 2024 against South Africa.

Although there has been no official confirmation or statement from the cricketer himself or from the BCCI regarding the retirement, the buzz has only increased. If this was indeed his final ODI game would mark the end of a glorious era and chapter in India’s cricketing history.

Speaking of Jadeja's spell with the ball today, the left-arm orthodox delivered 10 overs, giving away runs at a miserly economy of 3.00 and also took an important wicket after he handed the Indian team a breakthrough in the form of wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham, who was trapped lbw.
