Former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff has had a remarkable journey on and off the field. He was one of the fierce all-rounders to grace the 22-yard strip. Be it taking off his jersey and running all over the Eden Gardens in Kolkata after England’s win over India or getting stripped off from vice-captaincy position due to his avid drinking habit, he saw it all.

His life took a different turn when he sustained a life-threatening car crash while featuring for BBC’s Top Gear show. His face got injured and he was not the usual Freddie. He dreamt of building a cricket team in his hometown of Preston, documented the series, and named it 'Field of Dreams'. In the second season of the series, Flintoff’s advice to a young Afghan refugee cricketer, Adnan Miekhal, has caught everyone’s attention.

"Don't be afraid to tell people how you feel. You don't have to put a front on in front of each other. It's not a bad thing to let them know. We're all your mates. When I was playing cricket, I put an act on for years. I wanted to be that person everybody thought I was. In the end, it became so exhausting. It did me in. Be yourself. If you're struggling, tell people. Nobody is judging you here. You're surrounded by all of your mates. You'll be alright, mate, don't worry,” said Flintoff in the viral clip from series.

Speaking of Flintoff, he was seen coaching the Northern Superchargers in The Hundred 2024, where the team finished fourth in the season. He was briefly part of England’s ODI team in 2023 as an unpaid connoisseur. He later mentored the England Lions before The Hundred stint. With England’s dismal performance in white-ball cricket, Flintoff is being pushed as the potential Head Coach of the team.
