Skipper of India D, Shreyas Iyer, was spotted turning up to the middle wearing sunglasses under his helmet during India D's turn with the bat after cleaning up India A early on Day 2 of Match 3 of the 2024 edition of the Duleep Trophy fixture in Anantapur.

Distinguished for his sharp fashion sense and how he carries himself both on and off the field, this was not the reason for Iyer's unconventional decision. In fact, the principal explanation one could fathom was the extremely sunny conditions at that particular time of the day, something which Iyer wanted to counter to have greater visibility of the ball while batting.

As for Iyer's innings, it didn't go anywhere near how he would've envisioned, especially after his 54-run knock in the previous encounter against India C a few days back. All he could last for was a mere seven deliveries, with Iyer only managing to drive a full-pitched delivery straight to 20-year-old Aaquib Khan, who took a sharp catch at mid-on to award Khaleel Ahmed with his second scalp of the day.

India A got bowled out for 290 just as the day had begun with Shams Mulani missing out on his maiden first-class century with Harshit Rana ending up with a four-for. It was in the very first over of India D's innings that Khaleel dismissed Atharva Taide after the left-handed batter shouldered arms to offer no shot to a delivery that nipped back in sharply. The umpire had no hesitation in raising his finger, with the Vidharba batter understandably not going for the review as it was as plumb a decision could get, even while viewing the action unfold on the live telecast.
