‘Enjoy your retirement, Shiki Boy’ - Ravi Shastri posts heartfelt message following Shikhar Dhawan’s retirement

38-year-old Shikhar Dhawan recently announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Taking to social media, Dhawan announced his retirement by sharing a clip that spanned over a minute and 18 seconds. The former batter played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is and has retired with 10,867 runs to his name throughout his career.
After the announcement, former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri took to social media and congratulated Shikhar Dhawan on his retirement and posted a heartfelt note in his career’s honour.
It is worth noting that Shastri coached Dhawan for seven years; the former batter was a part of the Test side until 2018, and the duo have been quite successful in their time together.

Interestingly, Shastri was the coach of the Indian team until 2021, with the T20 World Cup 2021 being his last assignment. Shastri has since made his return to the commentary box, and his successor, Rahul Dravid, led the side to a title win at the T20 World Cup 2024.
It's important to turn the page to move forward in life: Dhawan
Dhawan had taken to social media to make his retirement official. The 38-year-old opined that it is extremely crucial to move forward in life, which is why he decided to retire.
"It's important to turn the page to move forward in life and that's why I am announcing my retirement from international and domestic cricket. I am leaving with peace in my heart that I played so long for India. I've told myself, 'Don't feel sad that you won't play for India anymore, but feel happy that you played for the country.'" Dhawan posted.
