‘Growing up is optional’ - Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra slams Pakistan PM on mocking team India
India lost to England by ten wickets in the second semi-final fixture at the Adelaide Oval.
India suffered a massive defeat at the hands of England in the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval. Since their exit, the Men in Blue are at the receiving end of heavy criticism from people around the world and members of the cricketing fraternity.
Moments after the defeat to the Three Lions in the last four fixture, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to social media and posted a tweet subtly mocking the Indian cricket team. The tweet immediately garnered a lot of attention and triggered a lot of Indian fans on Twitter.
“So, this Sunday, it’s:
152/0 vs 170/0 (with Pakistan and England’s national flags),” read the tweet by the Pakistan PM.
The tweet essentially indicates two of the humongous defeats India dealt with in their World Cup campaigns (2021 and 2022). Last year, the Men in Green battered India in the Super 12 and won the fixture by ten wickets.
The opening pair of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan had added a 152-run stand to lead the team to victory. A similar feat was achieved in this edition when England’s Jos Buttler and Alex Hales put up a majestic 170-run partnership against the Men in Blue and knocked them out of the World Cup.
Aakash Chopra hits out at Pakistan PM
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra took cognizance of Shehbaz Sharif's tweet and took a subtle jibe at him.
“Growing old is mandatory. Growing Up is optional,” tweeted Aakash Chopra in response to Shehbaz Sharif's tweet. Meanwhile, the Three Lions will now cross swords with Pakistan in the summit clash of the ongoing T20 World Cup event at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, November 13.
