India suffered a big blow on Monday (October 3) as Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury. The speedster who has troubled the best of the batters with his unorthodox action, was expected to lead the Indian bowling attack in Australia, until he complained of back pain ahead of the first T20I against South Africa.

He was subsequently ruled out of the entire T20I series with hopes of him recovering for the mega ICC event.

However, the BCCI took a call on Bumrah’s injury recently by deciding him to rest for the tournament and stated "The decision was taken following a detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists." A replacement is set to be named in the coming days with the likeliest of names being Mohammed Shami or Mohammed Siraj.

Meanwhile, injuries could be frustrating in the game and Bumrah was clearly disappointed to miss the big tournament. He could not feature in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022. The 28-year-old paid gratitude for the wishes and support he received through a tweet on Twitter.

Here's Jasprit Bumrat's tweet on Twitter

“I am gutted that I won’t be a part of the T20 World Cup this time, but thankful for the wishes, care and support I’ve received from my loved ones. As I recover, I’ll be cheering on the team through their campaign in Australia,” Bumrah tweeted.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja was the first big name to miss out on the T20 World Cup squad 2022 for India after going through a knee surgery and Bumrah’s absence has just added to the woes for the Rohit Sharma-led side. India will start their campaign in the tournament against Pakistan on October 23 while they will play two warm-up games against New Zealand and hosts Australia before that.
