I have no time to think about my journey, will do it after November 19: Rohit Sharma
Rohit stated that he doesn't have much time to think about his personal journey at the moment, as his focus is solely on the upcoming game.
Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, spoke at the pre-match conference before the highly anticipated semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. During the press conference, a member from the media asked Rohit about his journey as an individual, reflecting on how he started as a young boy playing on the same ground and now leading the team in the World Cup semi-finals.
In response, Rohit stated that he doesn't have much time to think about his personal journey at the moment, as his focus is solely on the upcoming game. He emphasised that his main priority is to get the job done for the team and that he will only have time to reflect on his journey after November 19th.
"I don't think there's so much time to think about it (his journey). My focus is on the game and what we have in hand tomorrow. I seriously have no time to think about my journey. What it has been in the past. Probably after 19 November, I'll think about it, but right now it's just business and pure business of getting the job done for the team," Rohit said.
He also highlighted the importance of performing well in such a high-profile tournament and expressed confidence in the team's ability to continue their strong performance in the World Cup.
"It's such a high-profile tournament, everybody is watching, and you want to display what one could cricket as Indian team. That is wha we've done in this tournament so far which is very, very good. We don't really have to change too much. Being in that same mindset as we were before the start of the World Cup," he added.
In the first semi-final of the 2023 Cricket World Cup, India will face off against New Zealand. India finished the round-robin stage in first place, while New Zealand secured the fourth spot to qualify for the semi-finals.
India have had an impressive run in the tournament, winning all nine of their matches. On the other hand, New Zealand have struggled, losing four out of their last five games. The upcoming match between the two teams is highly anticipated, and cricket enthusiasts are eager to see which of these two giants of world cricket will advance to the final of the marquee event.
In their recent head-to-head record, India have emerged victorious in their last four completed ODI meetings with New Zealand. The Black Caps' last win against India in this format dates back to November 2022. Additionally, New Zealand have not won an ODI in India since 2017.
