Australia's debutant spinner, Todd Murphy, who is currently relishing a sensational run on his debut, struck for the fourth time in the contest as he sent Virat Kohli back to the dugout. The two cricketing powerhouses have currently crossed swords in first of the four-match Test series at Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur.

Rohit Sharma-led team India have lost four big wickets in their first innings thus far as of Day 2. Interestingly, all of the four wickets were taken by Australia’s Todd Murphy as the latest victim was flamboyant batter Virat Kohli.

The home side were trailing by 26 runs with a score of 151 runs on the board with Rohit and Virat Kohli on the crease at Lunch. After resuming play, Murphy snared Kohli on the first ball after lunch to send the latter packing for mere 12 runs off 26 balls.

Murphy bowled one outside leg stump which saw Kohli aiming to flick it away and got the deflection off his willow. Aussie keeper Alex Carey pouched the ball on second attempt after nearly dropping it. With this, the spinner racked up four wickets and will be on the lookout for more before the second innings draws to a conclusion.

Virat Kohli close to attaining massive career milestone

It is worth mentioning that Kohli, prior to his arrival at the crease, was 64 runs away from getting to 25,000 runs across all the formats in his professional career. However, after getting outfoxed to Murphy, the batter will aim to attain the feat in the second innings as he is just 52 runs shy from creating history.

Meanwhile, team India are well on course to take the lead and will aim to put up a competitive total before the conclusion of Day 2. Adding to this, Rohit is currently batting on 94 and has a fair chance of scoring a century  against the visitors.
