India made four changes to their playing XI while Australia made five for the fourth T20I in the five-match series played in Raipur on Friday, December 1. The away side needed to win the game to stay alive in the series but they were beaten by 20 runs in an entertaining contest.

Matthew Wade won the toss and invited India to bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal's blitzkrieg at the top helped India get off to a rolicking start. India reached 50 in the sixth over but lost three wickets for just 13 runs as Australia pulled things back commendably. Rinku Singh came out to bat in the ninth over and continued his purple patch. After Ruturaj Gaikwad departed for 32, Rinku forged a vital 56-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Jitesh Sharma, who replaced Ishan Kishan in this game.

Jitesh scored 36 off 19 balls, belting one four and three sixes. Rinku, on the other hand, played second fiddle but he did find the boundary every now and then. The southpaw was dismissed in the last over for a well-compiled 46 off 29 balls. India could not finish strongly as they set Australia a target of 175 runs.

Travis Head, who has taken a liking to the Indian bowlers, scored 31 off 16 balls and put on 40 runs alongside Josh Philipe in the first three overs. India captain Suryakumar Yadav brought his spinners into the attack and they turned the game on its head. From 40/0 in three overs, Australia slipped to 52/3 in 6.2 overs. Axar took the prized scalp of Head.

Tim David, Ben McDermott, Matthew Short got starts but they could not capitalise. Matthew Wade came out to bat at No. 7 and remained unbeaten on 36 off 23 balls as India restricted the Aussies to 154/7 in 20 overs. Axar was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/16 in four overs. With this win, India sealed the series with another game to be played in Bengaluru on December 3.
