IND vs AUS: Harshal Patel's poor performance in 2nd T20I triggers memefest on Twitter
Harshal conceded 32 runs in two overs in the 2nd T20I vs AUS.
Australia posted 90 runs while batting first in the second T20I match at Vidarbha Cricket Association Ground in Nagpur on Friday. The in-form wicketkeeper batter Matthew Wade smashed three sixes in the last over of Harshal Patel, who conceded 32 runs in just 12 balls. The pacer was under the scanner for his poor show in the series opener and the going only got tough for him.
However, India managed to chase down the target in the final over courtesy of their skipper Rohit Sharma who remained unbeaten on 46 runs from 20 deliveries. Earlier, Rohit won the toss and elected to bowl first with few changes to the starting eleven. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned to the XI in place of Umesh Yadav and Rishabh Pant replaced Bhuvneshwar Kumar as a tactical change. For Australia, Daniel Sams came in for injured pacer Nathan Ellis, who took three wickets in the first match.
The visitors lost last match's hero Cameron Green on just five runs on Virat Kohli's brilliant throw in the second over. Axar Patel bowled out star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell on the last delivery of the second over to keep India ahead of the game. But Australian skipper Aaron Finch kept controlling the innings from the other end with big shots.
Matthew Wade takes on Harshal Patel:
Jasprit Bumrah, on his return from injury, dismissed Finch with a cracking yorker in the fifth over. Finch smashed 31 runs off just 15 balls with the help of four fours and one six. Harshal Patel came to bowl the sixth over with Matthew Wade on the strike. Australian wicketkeeper welcomed Harshal with two fours as the Indian pacer conceded 13 runs in his first over.
Wade and Steven Smith scored decent 12 runs against Bumrah in the crucial seventh over but the former went ballistic in the last over. Wade smashed three big sixes to Harshal to help Australia guide to a big 90 runs total in just eight over. Once again, Harshal proved the costliest bowler for India by conceding 32 runs in just 12 balls with no success. Soon after Australia's innings ended, the fans came up with memes on Harshal Patel trolling him for poor bowling.
