IND vs AUS : Virat Kohli gets rid of Green with an exceptional bit of fielding
Green couldn't get Australia off to a quickfire start in the shortened game.
After a lengthy delay to the start of play in the second T20I in Nagpur, the Indian team decided to bowl first after Rohit Sharma won the toss. The game was off to a rollicking start as the hosts got rid of the dangerous Cameron Green after some brilliance on the field by former Indian skipper Virat Kohli.
The game was reduced to eight overs-per side after the outfield was deemed not fit enough for the scheduled start. Aaron Finch's side started in a jiffy in the shortened game as Hardik Pandya's opening over garnered 10 runs. The Indian skipper tossed the bowl to the left-arm spinner Axar Patel in a surprising move.
And the move paid dividends eventually as the previous match's protagonist Cameron Green skied the first delivery only to be dropped by Virat Kohli at the ropes, who made a valiant diving effort to catch the ball.
But the dropped chance did not cost the team much as Green was caught short at the crease after a bullet throw from Kohli, who was stationed at mid-on. Axar Patel broke the stumps in a flash to send the Aussie packing as India drew first blood in the contest.
Axar then went on to get rid of the dangerous Glenn Maxwell on the last ball of the over, who was cleaned up for a first-ball duck. The all-rounder then went on to scalp Tim David on his very first ball of the next over and ended with exceptional bowling figures of 2/13 in his two-over quota.
Rishabh Pant found his way back to the starting XI
Earlier at the toss, India made a couple of changes to the starting XI as Jasprit Bumrah made his way back to the team after an injury layoff that saw him sit out the recently concluded Asia Cup. India opted to go for an extra batter as they brought in an explosive wicketkeeper-batter in the team at the expense of the veteran pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
