IND vs NZ: Hardik Pandya expresses wide range of emotions as Arshdeep Singh bowls wild 27-ball final over
Arshdeep Singh finished with 1/51 in the opening T20I against New Zealand.
New Zealand beat India by 21 runs in the first T20I at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Friday, January 27. While it was a dismal batting performance that let the hosts down chasing a manageable 177, it was also an expensive over from left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh in the first innings that proved to be the turning point of the contest.
Arshdeep conceded 27 runs in the final over that he bowled as the Kiwis finished their innings by posting a competitive total of 176/6 on the board which turned out to be a match-winning score eventually.
However, it was skipper Hardik Pandya’s gutted reactions during that uneventful last over that was one of the talking points of this contest which also went viral on social media in no time.
In the first video, Hardik can be seen helplessly watching the ball fly into the stands for a six. In the next couple of videos, the star all-rounder can be seen becoming a bit restless after watching Arshdeep’s dismal bowling performances as he stood in disbelief with his eyes closed. In another video, a disgruntled Pandya can be seen looking up in the sky.

A forgettable over for Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh, who is considered to be India’s death overs specialist in the T20Is, had a day to forget in Ranchi as he finished with 1/51 from his four overs at an economy of 12.8. He started his final over with a front foot no-ball that was hit for a six. Daryl Mitchell applied more pressure on the youngster by hitting him over stands off the next two balls as the Kiwis succeeded in registering three straight sixes.
Singh was then hit for a four off the next delivery as a result of which the tables were turned on India. After the third ball of the last over, an irate Hardik Pandya lost his cool, went straight to his bowler and was seen having an animated chat with him. The pacer then did not concede any more boundaries and only succeeded in giving four more runs off his next three deliveries including a dot ball.
