IND vs NZ: Kuldeep Yadav stuns Daryl Mitchell with unplayable delivery
Kuldeep Yadav's ripper to clean up Daryl Mitchell was the highlight of the innings.
It was a trial by spin for the New Zealand batters in the second T20I against India at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. The Kiwi batters were all at sea against the Indian spinners, and Kuldeep Yadav's ripper to clean up Daryl Mitchell was the highlight of the innings.
Mitchell Santner's side batted first in the decisive second T20I with eyes set on a historic series victory. However, it was the hosts who drew first blood after Finn Allen was cleaned up by the incoming Yuzvendra Chahal in the fourth over. Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips followed suit soon as the Indian spinners were all over the visitors.
New Zealand were hoping to hit back via the experienced Daryl Mitchell, who played a match-defining innings in the previous encounter. But the dangerous Kiwi batter had no answers to Kuldeep Yadav's mastery of the ball. He was beaten all ends up by the Indian spinner on the final delivery of the tenth over, as the ball spun sharply to rattle his off stump.
The Indian bowlers never offered a moment's respite to the Blackcaps, with skipper Hardik Pandya holding back his new ball bowlers until the fag end of the first innings. The Indian spinners bowled 13 overs between them, conceding just 55 runs and sharing four wickets among themselves. Their bowling efforts meant that the visitors could only compile a below-par total of 99 runs in their 20 overs.
