India took on Pakistan in Match 19 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on June 9. Pakistan won the toss and opted to field first. During the toss, India captain Rohit Sharma continued his tradition of forgetting things at key moments. This time the India opener forgot the coin was in his pocket and started frisking as everyone anticipated the captain would draw the coin.

Eventually, the toss was won by Babar Azam and Rohit too showed interest in bowling first looking at the overcast conditions. For the game, the Men-In-Green made one major change as they rested Azam Khan, and the spinning all-rounder Imad Wasim was brought in place of him. Azam is having a tough time with the bat as the right-handed batter scored a duck against the United States of America and had a forgettable England series.

We definitely can't prepare for weather like this: Suryakumar Yadav

As the match was about to start, the weather expressed its presence as it started pouring. There was a 60 percent chance of rain as per the weather forecasts and the toss was delayed for more than 30 minutes.

The Nassau County Stadium is the newly built venue and the rain is expected to make an impact on the game as the wet outfield can cause the spinners to lose their grip on the ball. Suryakumar Yadav expressed that the weather part is something that teams are not prepared for.

“We definitely can't prepare for weather like this but our preparations have been good so far. I won't think of avoiding any shot on this track, intent is very important in this format, don't think I have to avoid any shot. If the team requires me to stay there, I'll look to do that. It's always been a great competition between the two teams so really looking forward to it,” said Suryakumar ahead of the game.
