During the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024-25) played between Australia and India, an Indian fan got kicked out of the Adelaide Oval for waving sandpaper in front of the Aussie fans. For the unversed, this act was a reminder for the crowd regarding the dark times of Australian cricket, which happened six years ago.
It turns out that the past events still haunt the fans as the security guards forcefully escort him out of the venue with a mix of cheers and boos from the entire crowd. The pink ball Test in Adelaide was a nightmare for the Indian team where they faced a disappointing loss against the hosts. Not everything went to plan for Rohit Sharma and his men who were playing the match after a dominant victory over the Aussies at Perth. It is safe to say that the Indians will want to prove themselves in the upcoming game in Brisbane and will hope to repeat the heroics of 2021.
There is no doubt that the people are there at the venue to enjoy a game of cricket but some intense rivalry triggers some unexpected acts from the fans as well. There have been multiple instances where some fans have brought up the sandpaper scandal which saw legendary players like Steve Smith and David Warner along with Cameron Bancroft getting banned from cricket by Cricket Australia.

The scars of the scandal
The sandpaper scandal in 2018 was a horrible memory for Cricket Australia where Aussie players Cameron Bancroft, Steve Smith, and David Warner were banned for ball tampering by roughening one side of the ball during a Test series against South Africa. This led to a lot of negative reactions towards the players and the team ruining their image completely.
