Kolkata Knight Riders kept themselves alive in the ongoing IPL 2023 after a resounding victory against four-time champions Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk. KKR all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who made a handy contribution for his side in the contest, exchanged his jersey with former teammate Deepak Chahar in a great show of camaraderie.

Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, who joined the Kolkata-based franchise ahead of the 16th edition of the tournament, has endured a mixed-bag campaign in his first season for the two-time champions. However, he made a significant contribution to the game after dismissing Chennai's in-form opener Devon Conway, who is in the hunt for IPL 2023 Orange Cap, in the first innings.

Following his side's commanding victory, thanks to Rinku Singh and skipper Nitish Rana's match-winning partnership, Shardul shared a heartwarming moment with his former CSK teammate Deepak Chahar. The Indian all-rounder, who won two IPL titles with the Yellow Army, pointed to his contributions with the ball for the second-most successful franchise in the competition before exchanging his jersey with Chahar.

The former CSK all-rounder was the leading wicket-taker for his side in their two IPL title triumphs in 2018 and 2021, respectively. He was one of the stars of the 2021 final against his current side KKR as he scalped three crucial wickets to guide the Chennai-based franchise to their fourth IPL title.

Shardul, who structured a formidable bowling partnership with Chahar at the top of the order, made a name for himself as he was often the guy to deliver important wickets at crucial junctures of matches. The 31-year-old medium pacer expressed his love for the former side after putting on the iconic yellow jersey, saying, "feels good to be back in yellow."

KKR's victory against CSK keep them alive in the tournament with an outside chance of making it to the last four of the competition.
