Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in Match 37 of IPL 2023.
The thrilling action continued in the Indian Premier League 2023 as Rajasthan Royals (RR) hosted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Match 37 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was proven right by openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Joss Buttler who added 86 runs for the first wicket.
Ravindra Jadeja got the first wicket for CSK as he dismissed Buttler on 27 off 21 to break the opening stand. Captain Samson walked in next and played second fiddle to Jaiswal (77 off 43) who was striking it cleanly all over the ground. However, Samson(17 off 17) and Jaiswal were dismissed in the 14th over by Tushar Deshpande to bring CSK back into the game.
Maheesh Theekshana further got the prized scalp of the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer to put brakes on the quick run-scoring by RR leaving them at 146/4 after 16.1 overs. However, brilliant cameos from Dhruv Jurel (34 off 15) and Devdutt Padikkal (27* off 13) helped RR finish their innings on a high as they ended up scoring 202/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Deshpande was the pick of the bowlers for CSK with figures of 2/42 in his four overs while Theekshana (1/24) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/32) ended up with a wicket each.
In reply, CSK couldn’t get off to a flying start as opener Devon Conway struggled to get going. His struggling knock of 8 off 16 was ended by Adam Zampa on the final ball of the powerplay as CSK were 42/1 after 6 overs.

Gaikwad, however, looked in good touch and was quickly moving towards his half-century but his knock of 47 off 29 was also ended by Adam Zampa. Following his dismissal, Ravichandran Ashwin further made matters worse for the visitors as he picked up the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu in the 11th over.
From there on, the visitors could never recover as they could only reach 170/6 in 20 overs with Shivam Dube (52 off 33) scoring a brilliant half-century at the back end of the innings. As a result, Rajasthan Royals won the match by 32 runs with Adam Zampa picking 3 for 22 in three overs. Ravichandran Ashwin also picked 2 for 35 in his four-over spell.
