Mumbai Indians finally opened their account in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after defeating Delhi Capitals on April 11. The Rohit-Sharma-led side overcame DC by six wickets in a dramatic thriller at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi after making a dismal start, losing their first two matches against RCB and CSK, respectively.
Rohit delivered a match-winning knock of 65 off 45 and helped Mumbai register their first win this season. Following the win, the 35-year-old was seen connecting with his wife Ritika Sajdeh through a video call. MI took to Twitter and shared a video of Rohit and his wife's conversation.
“I feel good. I went inside and didn’t want to see the last over. My nails are gone. I have been part of such games a lot in the past 15 years in the IPL and I have seen this a lot," said Rohit.
Meanwhile, Ritika was heard saying that she was screaming while watching Rohit batting. The franchise captioned the footage of Rohit and Ritika's heartwarming conversation, "Ro on call with Rits after a nail-biting win in Delhi."

Speaking about the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited David Warner and Co. to bat first. The five-time champions bundled out DC in 19.4 overs and restricted by 172 runs, with Piyush Chawla and Jason Behrendorff taking three wickets each.
Except for skipper Warner (51 off 47) and all-rounder Axar Patel (54 off 25), no DC batter excelled with the bat. Meanwhile, in the chase, Rohit led the team from the front, putting on a 71-run opening stand with Ishan Kishan (31 off 26 balls). The India captain hit his first half-century in the IPL in two years and also emerged as Player of the Match.
In the middle overs of Mumbai's chase, Mukesh Kumar dismissed Tilak Verma (41 off 29) and Suryakumar Yadav (0 off 1), while Mustafizur Rahman dismissed Rohit to put Delhi back in the game. However, Tim David (13*) and Cameron Green (17*) stayed until the end as MI condemned DC to their fourth defeat in a row in the IPL 2023.
