IPL 2023: Washington Sundar ruled out of ongoing edition
Washington Sundar picked up a hamstring injury and will miss the remainder of the season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been handed with a massive blow in the form of Washington Sundar’s injury. The franchise took to its official social media handle to confirm the status and stated that the player will miss the remainder of the IPL 2023 season due to a hamstring injury.
The all-rounder relished a fine outing in his last game against Delhi Capitals as he returned a three-wicket haul and scored an unbeaten 24 off 15 balls despite ending up on the losing side. Having picked up the hamstring injury, the player is set to undergo scans to determine how long it will take before he returns to action. However, Sunrisers have confirmed that the all-rounder will miss the rest of the ongoing season.

In his seven matches thus far, the all-rounder has collected 60 runs coming down the batting order and has scalped three wickets in the ongoing edition. The 23-year-old was signed by SRH for INR 8.75 crore at the 2022 mega-auction.
SRH’s underwhelming season in IPL 2023
Unlike most of the other teams that are plagued with injuries, SRH have faced their first major blow with Washington’s hamstring condition. Despite having their prominent players fully fit, the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers are languishing at the bottom half of the points table with just two wins in their last five games.
Moreover, the franchise head to its next fixture on the back of three consecutive losses and will need to swiftly get back to winning ways. With mere two wins in seven outings in the league phase, Aiden Markram and Co. have an uphill task and will need to make the most from the second leg of the season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will square off against the David Warner’s Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. It remains to be seen if the orange outfit will be able to turn the tables and kickstart a winning streak to climb up the IPL 2023 points table.
