Gujarat Titans secured a victory by seven wickets and four deliveries to spare against Delhi Capitals in Match 35 of the ongoing edition of the IPL at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Saturday, April 19. With this triumph, GT secured the top position in the points table.

Abishek Porel started off DC's innings quite well, smashing two fours and a six in the first over before falling for 18 in the next. Mohammed Siraj conceded 17 in his second over. DC raced to 73 by the end of the powerplay and reached 100 in the ninth over of their innings. Karun Nair and Tristan Stubbs chipped in with 31 apiece. Ashutosh Sharma’s brisk 37 off 19 that lifted DC to 203/8. Prasidh Krishna, although expensive, claimed a four-wicket haul. GT responded with 67/1 in their powerplay but lost Shubman Gill early to a run-out.

Kuldeep Yadav turned the game with a tight spell, conceding just 2 runs in his first over and dismissing the dangerous Sai Sudharsan. GT needed 110 off the final 10 overs, with Buttler and Rutherford at the crease. While Rutherford, who came in as an Impact Player, played the anchor role, Buttler went all guns blazing to guide his side to a win. The wicketkeeper-batter smeared Mitchell Starc for five boundaries in an over en route to an unbeaten 97-run knock.
