IPL 2025: MI vs CSK, Match 38 – Full highlights, top moments & winner details
Mumbai Indians registered their fourth win of the IPL 2025.
Mumbai Indians recorded their fourth win of IPL 2025 with a clinical nine-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium, chasing down 177 with 26 balls to spare.
After being put into bat, CSK were restricted to 176/5 in 20 overs, a score that looked below par on a high-scoring Wankhede pitch. Ayush Mhatre, the 17-year-old debutant, began with a fiery 32 off 15 balls, giving CSK a good powerplay push. But he fell to a clever slower ball from Deepak Chahar.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell Santner led Mumbai’s bowling attack, producing a 27-ball stretch where CSK couldn’t find a single boundary. Shivam Dube (50 off 32) and Ravindra Jadeja (53* off 35) tried to get the innings back on track with a 79-run stand, but their stand came too late. MS Dhoni's soft dismissal to Bumrah in the 19th over saw Boult return for the final over, which saw Jadeja reach his fifty with two late boundaries.
In reply. Rohit Sharma finally found form, bringing up his first fifty of the season off 33 balls. Alongside him, Suryakumar Yadav was at his best, hitting spinners to all parts of the park. He smashed 68* off 30 balls, bringing up his fifty in just 26 deliveries. The pair’s unbroken 114-run stand took the side over the line. Ravindra Jadeja provided the only breakthrough by dismissing Ryan Rickelton for 24, but by then, MI had already taken control. With this win, MI moves up the points table to the sixth spot, while CSK are languishing at the bottom of the table.

With the visiting team under pressure after losing Rachin Ravindra early, Mhatre took the onus on himself. On only his second delivery, he smashed a boundary on the off-side and followed it up with a flick over long-on for six. His cameo of 32 off 15 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes, helped CSK get back on track and race to 48/1 in the powerplay.
