'It just goes to show the power of India' - David Warner's wife Candice on Ishan Kishan's spat with umpire during IND A vs AUS A
The recently-concluded first unofficial Test between Australia A and India A was imbued with controversy.
The first unofficial Test between Australia A and India A had its fair share of moments of cricketing brilliance. However, the fourth and final day of the game at the Great Barrier Reef Arena saw an unprecedented incident go down. Umpire, Shawn Craig, made the Indian players aware of the development regarding the ball being changed at the start of the day's play due to it being tampered with. Cricket Australia soon released a statement that the ball had been replaced "due to deterioration", and that both parties' captains and managers were informed about the decision.
However, this was not the end of it. It was the conversation between wicketkeeper, Ishan Kishan, and Craig which was a topic discussed widely by a lot of cricketing experts. While a certain faction condemned the subtly harsh statement by Kishan, there was another school of thought regarding the episode. David Warner's wife, Candice, a retired professional ironwoman and surf lifesaver, who was on the panel of a recent episode of Fox Cricket, called the following conversation which unfolded between Kishan and Craig as a display of the authority India held in the realm of cricket.
Here is how the conversation went:
Craig: “When you scratch it, we change the ball. No more discussion. Let's play. This is not a discussion.”
Kishan: “So, we are going to play with this ball?”
Craig: “You're playing with that ball.”
Kishan: “That's a very stupid decision.”
Craig: “Excuse me. You will be on the report for dissent. That is inappropriate behaviour. Because of your actions, we changed the ball.”
Kishan: “Thank you!”

Candice had a strong take on the conversation between Craig and Kishan. "It just goes to show the power of India and how strong they are. A lot of these umpires want to be part of the IPL," stated Candice.
One of the panellists then added their opinion on what could be the underlying reason behind the behaviour of Kishan. “India runs the game. Every dollar that is raised in cricket, is raised by India. This change over the last few decades has been extraordinary," noted the panellist.
The game in Mackay eventually ended up being won by Australia A by seven wickets. Kishan could not stamp his authority on proceedings, scoring 4 and 32, respectively.
