‘It was surreal' - Dhruv Jurel shares experience of meeting his idol MS Dhoni
Jurel has scored 62 runs in four matches so far.
Former India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been an inspiration for a majority of young cricketers all across the globe. Previously, Yashasvi Jaiswal was spotted greeting the legendary cricketer with folded hands in the Indian Premier League 2021 out of his sheer respect for the India great.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals youngster Dhruv Jurel recently got the opportunity to meet the 41-year-old and he described the feeling as surreal.
Notably, Jurel made his IPL debut in Rajasthan’s second match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Guwahati. So far, he has scored 62 runs in four matches at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 182.35. He has given the much-needed stability to Rajasthan’s middle order, which was struggling a bit as Riyan Parag and Devdutt Padikkal are not in form at the moment.
Meanwhile, in the match between RR and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 12, Dhruv got to meet his idol MS Dhoni for the first time and later stated that he was in awe for five minutes before having a conversation with him.
“It was surreal to meet players grew up admiring. When saw Mahi Bhai for the first time, stood at a distance & stared at him for 5 minutes. I thought. ‘Bas mehnat karni hai, waha tak pohchna hai’,” Jurel was quoted as saying by Human of Bombay.
“In our last match, I shared the field with my idol, MS Dhoni, for the first time. That day, I thought, ‘Nothing’s impossible.’
“But nothing tops the last match. Not only did I share a field with Mahi Bhai, but I also spoke to him! When I asked him how he always stays calm, he said, ‘As a finisher, you only get 1-2 overs to make your mark. Just believe in yourself & start hitting.’ Now, that’s what I plan to do, so I can get where he is… After all, nothing’s impossible!” Jurel added.
Notably, Jurel and Rajasthan Royals will next take on Lucknow Super Giants on Wednesday, April 19 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
