Rohit Sharma-led team India locked horns with hosts and defending champions Australia in the first warm-up match of their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign. The Men in Blue secured a win thanks to Mohammed Shami’s final over heroics as he picked up four wickets, including a run-out.

The warmup matches are a much-required aspect as it helps the teams gauge the playing conditions and assess the balance of the squad. There was much speculation surrounding how veteran pacer Shami would perform in the match after replacing Jasprit Bumrah after the latter endured a back injury that has kept him in the sidelines.

India were put to bat by the hosts and sublime knocks from KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav helped the side attain a total of 186 in their 20 overs. However, all-rounder Hardik Pandya just did not seem to be in the zone during the match.

Hardik Pandya unable to read Starc’s ball

The right-hander was seen to be rattled by Australia speedster Mitchell Starc’s pace in one of the overs. The star all rounder couldn't put bat to ball on three of the five deliveries that included one in which he was left stunned by Starc. The pace spearhead decided to go over the wicket, bowling a full ball that completely bamboozled Pandya.

The stump mic captured Pandya describing a tale to Suryakumar Yadav present in the non-striker’s end on the delivery bowled by Starc. He was caught saying- "Mujhe pata hi nahi chala. Kab aaya, kab beat hua. Pata hi nahi chala" (I had no clue about that delivery).

Hardik's innings came to a conclusion by Kane Richardson after getting a leading edge for the ball to land straight into the hands of Tim David at second slip. It didn't turn out to be his day overall as Hardik ended up conceding 29 runs in his three overs.
