Having represented three franchises in the Indian Premier League, namely the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2009, 2019), the Delhi Capitals (2012, 2014), and the Rising Pune Supergiants (2016), the dynamic batter soon became a fan favourite in India, which would be clearly reflected by the way he would get treated while on the field.
Pietersen's track record for England while playing in India
Pietersen was a menace to bowl to, particularly for the spinners, due to the ease with which he would move around his crease. The manner in which he would go about his business on the turning and slow tracks of India was commendable, to say the least.
His numbers while batting in India speak volumes on why Pietersen was considered one of the finest batters to have played their trade in the Indian subcontinent. His statistics in the longest format were truly remarkable, with 703 runs amassed in 16 innings at an average of 43.93.
