KL Rahul made a decent contribution during the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle of 2021-23 for India. Across 11 matches, he amassed 636 runs at an average of 30.28. In the span of 21 innings, Rahul registered two centuries and two fifties, with his highest score being 129.

But due to a thigh injury to the right-handed batter, BCCI announced Ishan Kishan as his replacement in the World Test Championship final as the former was not selected because of the unfortunate injury that occurred during the recently concluded IPL 2023.

The 31-year-old recently shared a picture of his workout session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The Instagram post indicates that the batter is preparing himself for his imminent return to international cricket.

The caption accompanying KL's picture reads, "Day 58...". He recently underwent surgery and has since been undergoing rehabilitation and pushing himself to get match ready.

The captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) sustained an injury during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 1. While chasing a ball in the outfield during the second over, he grabbed his right thigh in pain and subsequently hobbled off the field.

With less than 100 days to go for the World Cup in October-November, his presence in the Indian contingent for the showpiece event will arguably bolster India's chances of reclaiming the silverware. He is presently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Last month, KL Rahul revealed that he underwent a successful surgery on his right thigh. In a post, he expressed his gratitude to the doctors and medical staff for ensuring his comfort and smooth procedure. He declared his determination to regain peak form and return to the cricket field, saying, "Onwards and upwards!"

"Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery - it was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly. I'm officially on the road to recovery now. I'm determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards!" he stated in a post."
