The Legends League Cricket 2023 tournament opener grabbed the attention of social media after Asia Lions' skipper Shahid Afridi shook hands with India Maharajas' Gautam Gambhir during the toss. The two former cricketers, who used to be fierce rivals during their playing days, are doing the rounds after their latest interaction.

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir never held himself back during his playing days and more often than not found himself in altercations with the opposition players. His feud with former Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi was initiated during a hotly contested ODI between Pakistan and India in 2007.

Even after their retirements, they often pass explosive comments or throw shade at each other on social media platforms and in interviews. However, the duo took a more civil route during the toss ahead of the LLC 2023 tournament opener between the Asia Lions and India Maharajas. Twitteratis were in disbelief when both ex-cricketers shook hands with a smile on their faces.

Coming to the match, Afridi's side lost Tillakaratne Dilshan and Asghar Afghan in quick succession in a shaky start. However former Pakistani skipper Misbah-ul-Haq stitched together a brilliant 108-run partnership for the third wicket along with ex-Sri Lankan opener Upul Tharanga to take their side to a challenging total of 165 runs in their 20 overs. Afridi failed to make a meaningful contribution with the bat after being dismissed for just 12 runs.
