Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings are going head-to-head in match 11 of Indian Premier League 2024 at the Ekana Stadium on Saturday. Just as LSG commenced their batting after winning the toss, PBKS had to deal with an early blow as Liam Livingstone suffered a hamstring injury. Livingstone was fielding at the deep mid-wicket and tried to move across his left as he sensed a pull. He then walked back to the dressing room.

Coming to the match, LSG after winning the toss aimed to capitalise on the hard deck with a bit of grass on it. The pitch report indicated that seamers will reign supreme in these conditions. However, LSG’s gamble did not pay off as they lost their captain KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal too followed suit. Sam Curran and Arshdeep Singh picked a wicket each inside the powerplay for PBKS.

Here’s Livingstone walking back to the dressing room:

Nicholas Pooran replaces KL Rahul as captain against PBKS

LSG are placed at the bottom of the points table, it is moreover from the fact that they have played just one game and have lost. They were pitted against Rajasthan Royals in their maiden game of IPL 2024 and they succumbed to RR by 20 runs. On the other hand, PBKS are placed fifth with a win and loss in two matches they have played.

Interestingly, Nicholas Pooran had walked out for the toss against PBKS. Pooran revealed that Rahul would be playing as an Impact Player and the decision to rest him marginally stemmed from his injury recuperation process. Rahul had suffered a quadriceps injury that led him to stay away from action for two months. He even missed the Test series against England.
