Marnus Labuschagne's bizzare act while batting in second Ashes Test goes viral
The bizarre incident happened before the start of the 45th over.
The Ashes 2023 has been a series of ups and downs so far, and with it still being in the early stages of the series, there have been a plethora of moments that have captured the attention of the fans.
One such moment happened on Day 1 of the second Ashes Test at the Lord’s Cricket Ground when Marnus Labuschagne was seen spitting his gum on the ground. Much to the fans’ surprise and disgust, after throwing his gum on the ground, Labuschagne was spotted picking it back up and putting it right back in his mouth, which left the fans perplexed.
Labuschagne heavily improved upon his performance from the first Test. Being one of the highest-ranked Test batters in the world, Labuschagne failed to make an impact in the first Ashes Test. Across the two innings of the first Test, the 29-year-old scored only 13 runs in the first game. However, he was dismissed for 47 runs in 93 deliveries by Ollie Robinson in the first innings of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s as the Aussies notched up a mammoth 416 runs on the board.
Australia make late comeback in last session on Day 2 of Second Ashes Test
After notching up 416 runs on the board in the first innings, Australia looked to put in a similar performance with the ball. However, England’s ‘Bazball’ approach was in full flow on Day 2. England’s top order put in a masterful performance with the bat. Openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett accumulated 48 and 98 runs, respectively. Furthermore, Ollie Pope scored 42 runs in 63 deliveries. Batting at 91/1, England looked to be in cruise control of the game.
However, a masterclass of a tactic by Aussie skipper Pat Cummins brought Australia right back into the game. Releasing a flurry of bouncers, Australia took quick wickets of Pope, Duckett, and Root. By the end of Day 2, England were 278/4, and they would be keen on amassing even more runs on the board.
