The 'Hitman' of cricket aka Rohit Sharma has a massive fan base not only among the cricket aficionados but also the fellow teammates. Hence, the former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper is regarded highly in the dressing room, courtesy of his caring nature towards all the players.

As a result, during the ongoing IPL 2024 fixture between MI and visitors Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), the young West Indian all-rounder Romario Shephard was found requesting for an autograph and Sharma duly obliged. Notably, during Friday's encounter, Rohit Sharma sat out in the first innings of the match as he was marked as the Impact Player by the team management. This gave him ample time to enjoy the team's bowling from the balcony, at the renowned Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai.

Chasing is better in Wankhede: Hardik Pandya

Meanwhile, speaking of the ongoing IPL 2024, MI's captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to field first. Interestingly, he cited the key reason being Wankhede as a good chasing ground and hence he was seemingly positive about backing his decision and it turned out to be good initially as LSG suffered some early jolts during the powerplay phase.

"Chasing is better in Wankhede. It comes on nicer in the evening. It's always about playing for the badge, playing for pride all those words are important in the group. We know where we stand. But ending the season playing good cricket will always be appreciated. It gives us more freedom maybe to go out there and express ourselves," Pandya stated during the toss at the Wankhede.

However, in the fag end of the match, it was Nicholas Pooran who went bonkers and smacked MI bowlers all over the park. His run carnage (75 off 29 balls) throttled Lucknow Super Giants' total to a massive 214. In another notable contribution, LSG skipper KL Rahul after an early vigil, provided stable support with the bat as he scored a vital fifty (55 off 41 balls) to keep the scoreboard ticking while holding the fort from one end.
